Guide to Reindustrialization: definition, objectives and phases of the process
The operational path for the relaunch of a site
What is meant by reindustrialization? |
Reindustrialization means intervention in situations of closure and/or decommissioning of production sites, aimed at relaunching economic activity through the search for a potential industrial operator interested in taking over, with particular attention to maximizing occupation continuity.
What are the key steps in a reindustrialization? |
Reindustrialization is an articulated process that develops through some fundamental operational phases, which are summarized below.
-
Defining the strategy
The first step is to develop, together with the company, a targeted strategy: potential new industrial players interested in taking over are identified, the available incentives are analyzed and a solid business case is built. This initial phase is crucial: it represents the basis on which all subsequent actions are built. If not already present, Sernet also carries out a technical appraisal of the plant, accompanied by a detailed report.
-
Search for new industrial players
This is followed by an in-depth search of potential industrial operators, conducted in synergy with all stakeholders in the area. Parties who formally express interest, after careful verification conducted by Sernet, are invited to submit a solid business plan. The Plan includes the reabsorption of as many workers as possible, according to criteria of realism and sustainability in the medium to long term.
3. Evaluation of business plans
The plans received are subjected to a rigorous evaluation by Sernet, based on three main criteria:
-
- solidity of the company;
- sustainability of the industrial plan;
- Workforce transaction.
All plans are then shared with company management and presented at the monitoring tables at MIMIT (Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy), in the presence of all the stakeholders involved (trade unions, institutions, trade associations, etc.).
-
Introduction of the successor
Once the subjects who meet the evaluation criteria have been identified โ and also taking into account any elements that emerged in the monitoring tables โ they are asked to present their business plan at ministerial level, in the presence of all the actors involved in the process.
-
Institutional and industrial relations, communication and media relations
Sernet accompanies the company at every stage of the process, providing support even in the most delicate activities, such as the management of relations with institutional and industrial stakeholders, crisis communication and relations with the media.
